WEEK 97: May 9, 2021

Autism Charity Event volunteers

Wow wow wow!  This week was phenomenal.  I don't why everything was just going super right this week, like everything went exactly to plan, no lessons canceled, we got fed every night, and we found a bunch of new people to teach!!!

YSA is sick!!

JC- JC is dating a member and has been dating her for around a year.  Through teaching him this week and last week he has decided he would like to be baptized on June 19th!!  We are stoked about Jc.  He's probably the most normal guy I've taught in my mission.  He's super pumped about the gospel, and had a special interest in temples because he actually went to an open house of the Lubbock temple before he knew anything about the church.

Ryan- such a cool guy too.  It's blowing my mind how cool our teaching pool is right now and how receptive they are.  Ryan has been going to church with a friend's family, and he told us he's never felt so happy as he has when he's been at church or trying to come closer to God. During our first lesson we were teaching him about the principles of Christ's gospel, and while teaching baptism, he said he'd never been baptized before, and that was a goal he'd always had!  We asked if he would like to plan on June 26th, he said that sounded great!!  Ryan is a guy who knows he needs a relationship with God, and loved the example set by his friend who is a member.

BRODY- wow Brody is cool too.  Brody had us over for dinner this week, and he cooked us some delicious steak filets.  We had a long talk about the restoration over dinner and focused on how, like Joseph Smith, we can receive answers to our prayers.  Brody is also dating a member, and his girlfriend is preparing for a mission right now, so it's been really fun working with her and with Brody together, to help Brody get ready to be baptized, and to help his girlfriend get ready to serve a mission.

Funny story.  At dinner with Brody, Elder Loveridge and I were sitting at the table with the dessert on it, when Brody's pit bull came running up and jumped onto the table and ate a big chunk out of this fancy pudding thing...  Super gross.  Buuut Brody talked a lot about his famous pudding and how good it was so we had to eat it anyway and pretend like nothing happened...  Kinda gross but hey, no-one is sick yet haha.

One big thing I've seen this week is the profound impact the people we associate with can have in our lives.  The people we are teaching all have associated themselves with people who are Uplifting them, and helping them grow a relationship with God.  Someone told me that you are the average of the 5 people you associate with most, so don't let anyone bring down your average! ;)

Thanks for reading!!
