Elder Packing List

Andrew has had his mission call for more than 3 months.  We (Andrew and his mom) have done a lot to prepare him physically and a little less to prepare him spiritually for his mission. I have written a very specific list so that when I am doing this again in a couple of years, I won't have to reinvent the wheel.  Now that he is almost packed, we better do a little more to prepare him spiritually!
ELDER MISSIONARY PACKING LIST (Hot & cold humid temps, with heavy rains)

CLOTHES
Suit (1). (Mr. Mac)
White shirts (8-10). (CTR at Modern Missionary, Mr. Mac or JC Penny’s Stafford Performance Travel)
Ties (5-10).
Slacks (5-6). (Van Heusen - TJ Maxx, Haggar, Mr. Mac wool blend, Golf pants etc…)*Maybe get a few that are a tad too big.  :)
Dressy Shoes (4-6). (Hush Puppies, ECCO, ECCO  - Goretex-lined, Rock Ports or Johnston & Murphy) + shoe bags (TJ Maxx)
Garments (12-18). - extra bottoms
Socks (12-16). (CTR brand from Modern Missionary)
Belts (1-2). (Mission brand)
Baptismal clothing:
White pants, (White golf pants aren’t as bulky as the church ones.)
white socks, (Distribution Center)
white tie,  (Deseret Book/Distribution Center)
long-sleeved white shirt. (Can’t he just use one of his other white shirts?)

SEASONAL
Sweaters (1-2). (Mr. Mac & Amazon $22)
Coat: Winter, with a zip-out liner for warmth. (Mr. Mac)
Thermal underwear (2 pair). (Under Armour or Nike or etc…$35/each)
Scarf($11)
Down blanket (Costco - $35) or IKEA twin down comforter (“Tilkort” - $15)

CASUAL
Exercise clothing.
One set of clothing. Pants must be full-length. + a pair of sweats (if you have room)
Pajamas (1): Robe and slippers, as needed.
Shower sandals.
Clothes hangers (plastic).

DOCUMENTS
A passport and visa.
Passport Holder.  Preferred type of passport holder attaches to your belt by a loop and hangs down inside your slacks or skirt. (Kanga Document Pouch - Missionary mall $18)
Printed copy of the immunizations you have received for your personal records.
A current temple recommend. Please renew your temple recommend just before beginning your mission so it will be valid throughout your mission.
A completed four-generation pedigree chart with your name on the first line. Include as much information as you can. Also bring a few stories about your ancestors

STUDY MATERIALS
Scriptures in your native language.
Your personal copy of Preach My Gospel.
Pens, pencils, a notebook, highlighters, and any other materials you think you may need for taking notes and writing letters.
Sharpies
Duct tape (wrapped around the sharpies)
A journal, if desired (see Preach My Gospel, p. viii).
Shoulder bags should be in conservative colors with no apparent logos or insignias.

MEDICATIONS AND FIRST AID
First aid bag,
cold and allergy medication,
fever reducer,
pain reliever,
anti-diarrhea medication,
antibiotic ointment,
anti-itch cream,
anti-fungal cream or spray,
band-aids,
25-35% DEET mosquito repellent
