WEEK 38: March 16, 2020

Elder Hammond loving his beautiful new area

P-day activity to the big city with his companion and roommates
Well this week was crazy!  I don't think  5 minutes went by without hearing something about the Coronavirus, or how my country is turning into a movie scene haha.  This week (at an emergency Zone meeting) our president has started preparing us to stay in the apartment if the virus keeps up like this. He gave us smartphones, and 200 Reals (about $40) to buy emergency goods and told us not to go near old people.  But for now, we’re still working here!

This week we marked 3 baptism dates, (pictures below)  a young woman who has a few member friends, and 2 kids that are from a member family that hasn’t been going to church for a while.
The young woman and her member friend whom they have been teaching

The two kids of a less-active family, but are now getting baptized!

Look closely.  This is their baptismal invitation!  The evil minions and photo-shopped baptismal font are special touches.

Lots happened this week, but i don't remember everything... but i took a lot of pictures so i’ll throw those in down below haha.  thanks for reading

His district whom he is no longer allowed to have meetings with

From our conversation:

  • They’re going to a big supermarket tomorrow per the president’s instruction to buy staples.  He said they are going to buy non-perishables like flour, eggs and milk.  Joseph said, “Milk and eggs? Those aren’t non-perishables!”  Milk there is super pasteurized so it is shelf stable until it’s opened.  Eggs are obviously pretty long-lasting.  It’ll be interesting to see what they eat if they have to cook for themselves.
  • They spent the morning in Florianopolis for p-day and then went by the mission office to get missionary supplies.

A famous bridge that according to Andrew, has just reopened after several years of repairs.
