WEEK 72: November 1, 2020

Snow in NM!

Well another week has gone by in Fort Sumner!!  This week was pretty good but started off super rough!!  We got back from our Santa Rosa trip to a house with a half inch of water in my bathroom, no hot water, and mouse poop everywhere!  I guess the double wide didn't take the first snowstorm too well.  We called our mission housing leader and we were told to move in with the Clovis elders for the rest of the week!!

We did all our missionary work online and our Facebook stuff from the Clovis elders apartment.  We called every single phone number we have in our records and we set up some great lessons for this next week!!  Hoping for some new people to teach and to meet some members we can reactivate. (Mostly for Elder Jones and his new companion.)
Andrew's Fort Sumner District (These are the Clovis Sisters)

Friday was funny! The sisters in Clovis locked their keys in their apartment and had no way to get the keys out, so they called us to see what we could do.  We tried breaking into their house through their windows and their garage but nothing was working.  I jokingly said "Should I just try and kick the door down?". The sisters were like sure.  So I decided to try... And it actually worked!  The door opened and the sisters were able to make it to their lesson just in time.  Their door is kinda broken now though so I'm bringing some wood glue down tomorrow to fix it up haha.

Other than that, today we had an awesome lesson with a person who requested a Bible from us last week. His name is Isidro.  We taught him about the Book of Mormon, he seemed super interested and I'm excited to see what happens!!  He's 21 and is wanting to learn more about God and Christianity since he's been a catholic his whole life.  He's super rad.
Goodbye, doublewide...

Goodbye, Sister and President Lindsay!

Transfers are tomorrow!!  I got moved outside of Lubbock to a small-town called Plainview!  I'm pumped.

Thanks for reading.
Elder Hammond

From our Conversation:
  • Andrew made teriyaki and rice for his district for Halloween.  They had a party at his Fort Sumner place including carving pumpkins. He even bought Martinelli’s sparkling apple juice at the Dollar Store for the occasion.

  • Shout out to Aunt Renee and the Rice family for sending a Halloween package to Elder Hammond.  He loved it!  Thanks also to Aunt Lisa and the Jenkins and Aunt Melissa and the DeLongs for past packages.
  • He and Elder Jones shoveled a lot of snow after the storm and were told by many people that they haven’t seen that much snow in 20 years.
