WEEKS 60 & 61: August 17, 2020 "Goodbye, Hello"

Elder Hammond's district before transfers.  A sad "Goodbye"

Elder Hammond's new Greenie, Elder Jones.  "Hello"

Forgot to write last week...  but these last two weeks have been pretty good!! We had transfers!!  Elder Bird was off to a Texan city called Odessa and I received my first trainee named Elder Jones.  He is from Reno, Nevada!  Seems like a chill guy, still adjusting to the Missionary routine but we are getting there!  Sadly though, because Elder Jones and I were in Texas last week, New Mexico law says we need to quarantine for 2 weeks, which means we didn't get to go to church or our district council this week!

This week ended in a rough patch haha.  We did service helping a member harvest honey... And I got stung by a bee on my eyebrow, so I've had a swollen eye for the past few days which has not been fun (had to go to the ER this morning because it was getting so bad).  In good news though, the member paid for us to go to Buffalo Wild Wings after the service project so we got some good food before heading back to Fort Sumner.

Monday at the ER.  We talked to him this evening and he is already looking a lot better.

I just barely got put in charge of running ads on Facebook for the mission.  Things are busier which is really awesome. Thanks for reading!

From our Conversation:
  • They’ve seen quite a few baby rattlesnakes around their yard lately.
  • He played “I Need Thee Every Hour” on his violin in church last week with Elder Bird accompanying.  He said it was good.
  • Since he is now the district leader, he is in-charge of district training and calling each companionship weekly to check up on them and help them if they need it.  He has done one training on how to teach the restoration and will teach tomorrow about meeting investigator needs.
  • They have begun teaching a woman, Juanita, whose son is a member of the church.  They are happy to have someone to teach.
