WEEK 59: August 3, 2020

Zone Conference in Roswell NM
This week was a little more busy than my normal week here!

We had our zone conference in Roswell on Tuesday which was super fun!  We got to meet the new mission president (President Child) and he's a super awesome guy.  I'm pumped.

We took some pictures with the aliens of area 51 (pic above)  and ended the day with some sub-par Panda Express.

On Tuesday, it was Elder Ohlson's birthday, so I decided to make a cake for him.... It didn't turn out too good. Haha. I forgot to add the water and added an extra egg, but it's the thought that counts, right??   It was a fun little party and nice to hang out with the other elders.

The rest of the week was pretty boring, we DM’ed a lot of people on Facebook asking if they wanted yard work or help with anything... And received very few responses sadly!!

Saturday, we did another car wash!  Our branch president rented out an entire car wash for us to use and we probably washed another 30 or 40 cars!  It was cool and a great use of 4 hours.

Sunday was good!  We got 2 investigators to church for our 25 minute meeting, and they seemed to enjoy it!  This week there are transfers, and I think Elder Bird is hitting the road.  He's been here 6 months and is for sure ready for a change. This week he and I taught a Come Follow Me lesson on Facebook, which was fun!  It felt nice to be teaching again... Even if it was just members watching!

Love you all!  Thanks for reading!

From our Conversation:
  • More missionaries are coming to their mission this week.  Normally the Texas Lubbock Mission had 150 missionaries.  It will now be 230!
  • His mission president is asking them to learn about and focus on Love and Charity for the next few months.
  • The branch president’s mother-in-law taught them to make artisan bread.  They’ve made it 3 times this week and a few loaves of zucchini bread because someone else gave them garden zucchinis.
  • Their garden has a giant cantaloupe plant; nothing else survived the extreme temperatures and wild animals.  No cantaloupes yet, but it is flowering.
  • They finished the puzzle I sent Andrew for his birthday!
