WEEK 58: July 27, 2020 (13 Months)

Carwash

Another week!!  This week we finally did the car wash!  It was a huge success!!  We had all 10 of the missionaries in the area helping out, and we washed around 40 cars!  A bunch of people felt bad for us working out in the sun for free. So we scored pizza, Gatorade, Sonic slushies, and someone paid for our dinner afterward!  And none of them were members!  We made a bunch of contacts and we are hoping for the best!!

Other than that... we spent a long time calling less-active members this week and teaching them because we don't have any non-members that we are currently teaching so we decided to start focusing on less-active members.  We have our zone conference tomorrow in Roswell, and I'm pumped to see all the aliens down there. (There is an alien themed McDonald's there.) I'm also pumped to finally meet our new mission president!

We helped someone clean out their house this week, and they said we could keep anything we found!  We scored a flashlight, Chinese checkers, and a weird instrument from Australia!  Our house is slowly filling up with junk. haha.

I crashed on my bike yesterday and my knee is swollen which is no fun and now my comp won't go on bike rides with me any more, which is a bummer... but maybe for my own good haha.

Thanks for reading!
-Elder Hammond

From our conversation:
  • Their district was all staying the night at Andrew’s double wide since Fort Sumner is the closest area to Roswell. They baked burger patties and made hamburgers since a member of the church there donated free ground beef from his farm to the missionaries.
  • Andrew recommends all missionaries read “Saints” before their missions.
  • Andrew’s branch president in New Mexico has a son serving in the Provo mission.  Guess where he was transferred to… Springville!  We got to feed him and his companion the other night.  It was such a treat to meet Elder Lindsey and his companion.
Elder Hammond's branch president's son serving here in Springville! (He's the one of the right.)
