WEEK 53: June 22, 2020

Zone Conference

Well there goes another week here in Fort Sumner!  And looks like me and Elder Bird will be sticking around for the next 7 weeks.  This week we had zone conference which was good!  It was super nice to see all the other missionaries and have some more interaction face to face!  It was the last zone conference for our current mission president, which is why we got permission to do it!  We had a long road trip to get out there and a long ways back, 3 hours each way, so we got to stay in a neighboring city with some missionaries in our apartment for 2 days which was a blast!

Right after zone conference we were asked to help out with the "pig showing" (think Charlotte's Webb haha) we helped lead the pigs into the "judging pen" and back to their cages.  It was an interesting experience for sure!  I thought that things like that were only real in movies haha.

Other than that, I got my drivers card this week so I spent a ton of time behind the wheel of the Tacoma this week which was fun.  Unfortunately due to a spike of cases in the area church has been canceled for the next few weeks again, which is too bad, but we are hopin’ things will start looking up and we can get back to church as soon as possible.  We don't have much in terms of investigators, we do most of our work through Facebook groups (DMing random people) and it's definitely a slow process with lots of rejection (and swear words haha) buuut we are seeing a little bit of success and trusting in the Lord’s timing.

Love you guys!  Thanks for reading.

From our conversation:
  • Their new mission president arrives at the end of June.  He is or was the CFO of RC Willey so he knows how to say “No”.  I hope Andrew will learn some great things from him.
  • Their zone conference was with another zone so it was a huge group of missionaries.  He really gets along with the other missionaries he interacts with.
  • The garden is slowly making progress.  The watermelon has finally sprouted, but the squash plant got eaten by a rabbit they think.  If there are rabbits eating their garden, it will go nowhere.  Haha
Sometimes fishers of men are also fishers of fish
