WEEK 51: June 8, 2020

Elder Hammond on a tank
Elder Hammond on a tank

Well it's hard to believe that another week has passed by!  And this week was a super quick one. One highlight from this week was we got to take a trip to the other town in our area, called Santa Rosa, which was super cool and pretty.  They had a tank parked in the middle of nowhere so we took some pictures on it.

Other than that, the family we have been teaching are still on track to be baptized on the 27th!  This week was our first week back at church in Fort Sumner!  We had 14 people there and I gave a talk on how the restoration of the priesthood has brought me closer to Christ.  It was a good Sunday but it looked weirdly apocalyptic with everyone spaced out in masks haha.
Cleaning up the chapel

My district and I put together a short video about the restoration after the district council to hopefully bring a little more attention to our page.  We will see how that goes!

My companion and I decided to plant a garden out here because of all the space that we have.  We planted sunflowers, green beans and watermelon!  It's super desolate so we will see if anything grows haha.
This is their garden, which by the way does have a sprout already!  Notice the knife.  I think that's their shovel.

Love you all!!  Thanks for reading.

Elder Hammond

From Our Conversation:
  • Their house stunk badly this week.  It’s against the rules to light a candle in missionary apartments because of the fire hazard.  Andrew found an unburned candle in the house somewhere and decided it was a good idea to melt it in a pan to make things smell better in there.  (I think they should have cleaned everything up and looked for something rotten, but that’s just me.)  Anyway, the whole thing burst into flames!  So much for avoiding fire hazards.

FIRE!
  • Andrew and his companion got to drive tractors around one day for fun!
  • He got to shower with this spider one day this week.  Apparently, black widows are very common there and really like their laundry room.
  • The sunsets can't be beat!
No filter!
