New arrivals to the Texas Lubbock Mission |
Well there goes my first week of my reassignment in the Texas Lubbock Mission. I'm in a very small town in New Mexico by the name of Fort Sumner! The town (or village) is home to around 800 people, has one gas station and a family dollar for our grocery store! It's quite a different experience than my last mission in Brasil. I live in a double wide trailer (pictures below), we get to drive a truck around, and I have my own phone! We are still in quarantine so unfortunately still not a ton of stuff going on. This morning I moved one of our chairs and shattered our front window right before a big rainstorm... not a great move! But we stuck some plywood in there and now somehow our trailer looks even more junky!
My companion's name is Elder Bird, he's a nice guy from Kaysville who loves to play the ukulele and sing. Life is pretty slow here doing nothing indoors and you can only read the scriptures for so long... Hoping COVID19 keeps calming down so that we can start working again as soon as possible so I can write some more interesting emails!
Love y'all

From our conversation:
- Andrew arrived in Lubbock Texas on Thursday. He spent some time at the mission office getting orientation. He was given two mission companions for a couple of days while they waited for another reassigned missionary to arrive and make it two twosomes. During that time he and his companions were staying with another companionship. With little to do, they made this Tik Tok dance.
- The next day, they picked up the new elder and Andrew's bike that we bought from a local bike shop there in Lubbock. (He says it's "lit". Glad he likes his bike.) On the way to his first area, they stopped at Walmart for groceries and drove another hour and half to their "village" (too small to be considered a town, I guess.)
