WEEK 35: February 24, 2020 (8 Months, 1/3 of his mission!)

Lunch at a member family's house (Linear and Maria)
Another week!
Well this week was super good!!  This was the first week in a LONG time that i felt cold haha.  and it's the best.  Winter is finally arriving and that makes me really happy.

This week we walked a ton, knocked a ton of doors, and talked to a ton of new people (and a lot of drunk people because it's Carnival).  We are teaching a new couple that I think have interest and will start going to church with us!

We are still preparing Lede for her baptism, calling her from the capella (chapel) 3 times a week and she's understanding everything and we are hoping everything will go as planned for her upcoming baptism!!

Other than that,  I was super embarrassed in church this Sunday when I was preparing the sacrament and I picked up the white linen to see a giant red spider... I kinda screamed and dropped the linen on the floor and turned and saw everyone in the branch laughing!  Good thing I'm leaving this area next week haha (probably).

Other than that, this week is the week of Carnival, so work is gonna be pretty slow.  We have zone conference Wednesday and Sunday is gonna be transfers!  Thanks for reading!

Elder Hammond

From our conversation:

  • Andrew’s shoes are quickly wearing out, so he has been looking for another pair of shoes.  The challenge has been finding shoes to fit his huge American feet (size 11).  This week he found a pair!

  • Although he thinks he is doing very well with Portuguese, I am pleased that he is working hard in gaining a better Brazilian accent by copying his companion.
  • Last Sunday, he made a goal to be 100% obedient.  He talked to his companion who said he would support that but wouldn’t necessarily be 100% obedient himself.  He said that he has been happier this week because of it.  Not that he hasn’t been happy, but he noticed a difference, so that’s good!
  • Some woman in his ward bore her testimony last fast Sunday that she knew that the church was true and then said, “I also know that Catholic church is true and I’m going there next to bare my testimony there too.”  Weird things happen in the mission field!
  • They saw “The Other Side of Heaven” last p-day at a member’s house.  He really liked it!
  • They’re going out to dinner tonight with their favorite member family for pizza.  He was really excited.

We love having a working fridge!

  • The fridge finally got fixed.  It took some strong persuasion to make that happen.  Andrew can be very persuasive!  The repair man was taking his time and Andrew was done being patient. Let's just say that he'll know how to deal with teenagers when he's a dad.

"If the Savior 'sat' beside you..."

I look grumpy, but really I'm just tired.
