WEEK 32: February 3, 2020

Hungry missionaries "We have no food"
Well this week absolutely flew by!!  This week I had a few highlights, last Sunday I told all the young men in my ward that I would buy them 1 liter of Coca-Cola for each friend that they bring to church Sunday, and they came through, and this week we have 3 solid new investigators to teach!  (i have 3 liters of coke to buy lol)

Wednesday this week we were knocking doors, and we found an old man who has lung cancer from his years of smoking. We taught him about the word of wisdom, and he seemed very interested!  He came to church this Sunday, and said it was “the most relaxing church he's been too!”  He said he liked it and next week he'd bring his family with him.

This week will be the grand rodeo of Vacaria, so a ton of people are coming to this city to visit, meaning lots of opportunities to talk to lots of different people!  Life’s good out here in the boonies of brazil!

From our conversation:

  • Andrew made beef ribs and pork chops this week.  He says he’s really learning how to cook...meat.
  • There is a mountain lion or two roaming around Vacaria.  It’s against the law to kill mountain lions in Brazil so they just can run around town.  We asked if anyone has been killed and Andrew told us that they just eat the stray dogs.
  • After he broke his fast on Sunday, he realized that they didn’t have any food at all in their apartment.  As a joke, he pulled out his guitar and sat in his apartment complex outside his apartment with his companion and put a sign in his case that said, “We don’t have food.”  One of his neighbors said, “I have a couple of apples. Haha.”  Andrew didn’t turn down the offer even if it was a joke.
  • I asked him if he's eaten at Subway yet and he said, “No, they are really expensive here.  We bought a couple of cookies, but we could buy a ton of food for the same price as anything at Subway.” He ate 25 chicken hearts and some steak for about $2.50.  Chicken hearts are his favorite.

Yummy chicken hearts and other Brazilian food.
