WEEK 24: December 9, 2019

Saying "Good-bye" to Elder Merino
Another week!!

Well this week was the last week of the transfer!  We spent the first few days with the APs and finished showing the area, and we split up to find some new people and I had a pretty funny/cool thing happen!  Sometimes when we are knocking doors we will yell random names and hope people come out and then we can talk to them, and so we walked up to this one house, the AP Elder Jenkins yelled “Mateus!!” and then we waited as a woman approached and said “just a minute i think Mateus is around back!!”  We waited and Mateus approached wondering why the heck two Americans knew where he lived and his name... We gave him a Book of Mormon and we are hoping to teach him more next week!!

Other than that, this week we did a lot of walking in the heat, heard a lot about something Trump did to make the meat here more expensive..., taught a ton of lessons and found 3 solid new investigators! (2 already have baptism dates!)

Today is the last day of the transfer, my Colombian companion Elder Merino, will be traded for a Brasilian named Elder Barboso (still haven't met him!)  Hoping for the best but preparing for the worst!

My favorite Member here (Renato) ...

...gave me a mate' cup for Christmas!
The 3 kids in my ward are constantly asking me to translate music into English for them. This member loves Drake more than any other artist even though he doesn't understand anything!

Thanks for reading!

From our conversation:

  • He had to buy a new hat because his old one got ruined in the rain.
  • His foot is finally starting to feel better.
  • Decided that iced Chimmarao (herbal tea) is the best.
  • Is happy for Becca who just got home from the Porto Alegre South Mission 3 days ago.
