WEEK 2: July 9, 2019

His companion is to his right and his exercise buddy is to his left.
This week was pretty dang crazy!  it felt really weird spending the fourth of July here in Brasil!  All the Americans here wore red white and blue and it was really funny haha.  Also for lunch and dinner the cafeteria tried and make a classic american meal (which was french fries, burgers, and nasty chicken fingers) and they decorated all the cafeteria with flags and hats and a ton of random things!

Funny story from this week, there are 2 devotionals every week, both of which are given in Portuguese and both of which we have to listen to a translator.  And the mtc president was talking about how bad flirting is between the sisters and the elders, but instead of flirting, the translator said NO FERTILITY EVER, over and over and over again hahaha it was hilarious.

Anyway, tomorrow we are going to Rodizio Grill  (it’s not the same) for p-day and hopefully we can find some fun stuff to do after going to the temple!  I'm speaking good Portuguese and understanding basically everything!  church is true!  catch me next week.

To Mom:
My companions name is Elder Jeanerret, he’s a nice enough guy. He was the captain of his marching band and loves to talk about that 24/7 and loves to whistle just as much.  Things started kind of rough with him the first week, but things are better now.  Love you!

The company "Mission Ties" sent this picture.
They're the ones who can hook him up with Domino's Pizza Parmesan Bites.
Also from our conversation:
  • He is happy and only eats the backup snacks when there’s an extra gross meal.
  • Fasting was “painful” because they made them fast for a full 24 hours.
  • He LOVED going on the field trip to the temple last week.  They drove through jungles to get there.  Also, the whole session was in Portuguese, even the veil, which was “VERY DIFFICULT”.
  • Their whole district bought matching soccer jerseys! I told him to take a picture and send it when he gets into the field.
  • Next week is his 19th birthday and there’s a company down there that makes packages and delivers them to the missionaries.  So he requested Domino's Pizza and Parmesan bites for his district for his birthday.  This is kind of hilarious because about 2-3 times a week, Andrew would go get Domino's Parmesan bites here and the day before he left, he went and got more and said, “I won’t be eating these for 2 year!”  To be honest, they probably won’t be the same…
  • When we got off the Google Hangout with Andrew, Joseph said, “Wow! He’s like a new man!”
